A foundation member of the New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL), the Balmain Tigers are one of the most recognisable sporting teams in Australia.
The club boasts an illustrious history, with 11 premierships to its name, including a golden era in the 1940s when they secured three titles. Many legends have worn the Tigers jersey such as Keith Barnes, Wayne Pearce, Ben Elias, Steve Roach and Paul Sironen.
Their grand old ground, Leichhardt Oval, remains an iconic venue where fans have celebrated decades of Rugby League tradition.
In 2000, the Balmain Tigers merged with the Western Suburbs Magpies to form the Wests Tigers, ensuring their legacy continues in the modern NRL era. Despite the merger, the Balmain Tigers' identity remains strong through their junior development programs with teams in SG Ball and Harold Matthews Cup.
