Established in 1988, the Newcastle Knights quickly earned a reputation with a tough, hardworking style of play, passionate Rugby League fans and community spirit to become the heartbeat of the Hunter Region.

The Knights have enjoyed significant success, winning multiple junior titles and two NRL premierships. Their first, in 1997, remains an iconic moment in Rugby League history, with Darren Albert's last-minute try sealing victory. They secured their second title in 2001, led by club legend and immortal Andrew Johns.

McDonald Jones Stadium, also known as the Coliseum to the locals, can be a daunting place to visit for opposition teams with the loyal Red and Blue Army cheering the home side.

The Knights are deeply committed to grassroots Rugby League, with strong junior development pathways that have produced stars such as the Johns brothers, Paul Harragon, Adam Muir and Danny Buderus. This focus ensures the club remains a cornerstone of Rugby League in the Hunter region.
