The St. George Dragons are one of the most iconic and historic rugby league clubs in Australia. Established in 1921 and based in Sydney’s southern suburbs, the Dragons are synonymous with success and tradition in the sport.

The club dominated the mid-20th century, famously winning an unparalleled 11 consecutive premierships from 1956 to 1966, a record that remains unmatched in rugby league history. Known for their red and white jersey and the fiery dragon emblem, the team holds a special place in the hearts of rugby league fans.

Home games are played at the iconic Jubilee Oval in Kogarah, where generations of supporters have rallied behind their team. The Dragons are also recognized for their contribution to junior rugby league, with a strong network of local clubs and pathways that have produced some of the game’s greatest players, including Reg Gasnier, Norm Provan, and Graeme Langlands.

In 1999, the St. George Dragons merged with the Illawarra Steelers to form the St. George Illawarra Dragons, combining the proud traditions of both clubs. However, the original St. George legacy continues to be celebrated with their pathways teams competing SG Ball, Harold Matthews Cup, Tarsha Gale Cup & Lisa Fiaola Cup.
